My Life of 7 Goals was created intentionally as a process that I needed for myself that would create the byproduct of accomplishing feats I am striving for and to track the progress I am making throughout my life. This process demands intentionality and consistent check in. Nothing worth anything happens overnight.
In a world that celebrates grand gestures, bold leaps, and overnight success stories, the importance of consistency often gets overshadowed. We fall into the trap of comparing where we are to others and often look for the path of least resistance in effort to speed up the process. The question I believe many of us ask ourselves is: “How do I get to that point, as quicky as possible?” – Unfortunately, this is counter productive, because it leads to spending a lot of time trying to figure out the best way todo something, when you could have acted and been further along your journey.
Don’t let the time you spend researching a topic fool you with a false sense of accomplishment. Results, unfortunately, do not come from preparation but in action and consistency (which you will see is the theme of this post). Many of us get caught in the preparation time that gives us a false sense of accomplishment. Now I want to back into this – So you may ask yourself, “how do I stay consistent and take action” – Many people will say “just do it” –and they are NOT wrong; however, for those of you who struggle with action, I want us to take a step back and first set up your process.
The process we commit to, with consistency, will cause the goal to be but a mere by-product.
The process you build, and follow will be the direct result of the “Goal” you end up accomplishing. From my perspective, the weekly updates and intentional critical thinking process that is required through My Life of 7 Goals, is what has led to where I am today and where I will be tomorrow.
If you find yourself consistently “failing” to obtain the goal you want – I encourage you to not ever lower your goal but re-evaluate your process. Feel free to copy the process I have for myself, or create one for you, but often, your process is what needs to change (or be created)!
Part of the process you build for yourself should require some type of consistency, regardless of the outcome of each said consistent action.
You will find your goal inside of committing to a solid process. So, what is YOUR process?
Lastly, I will leave you with a quote from one of my favorite movies that should remind you that the process is step one, but commitment and consistency is required for step two😉:
“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!” ~ Rocky
